Since the unfortunate events following the tsunami that hit Japan in 2011, the Japanese Transport Authority (MLIT) has started to record whether cars have been used in a radiation contaminated region and / or have failed a radiation contamination test.

Radiation contamination is not a common problem for cars exported from Japan but it may give you or a potential buyer peace of mind knowing that there are no issues of concern.
